The Advanced piano program is a program designed for piano students enrolled in or aspiring to study at the College, Conservatory or University level either in Lebanon or abroad. Participants will improve their pianistic and technical skills, explore traditional and new repertoire as well as engage in collaborative activities such as chamber music (piano duet), vocal accompaniment or chamber music with strings. And this year, participants will have the opportunity to play solo with orchestra!
Special Project in 2019! This year all participants who are prepared, as determined by the piano faculty, will have the opportunity to play a solo with the YES Academy Symphonic Orchestra - a movement from Saint Saëns' 'Carnival of the Animals'.
How it works: Once you have registered and been accepted, you will be contacted by YES Academy staff who will assign you to prepare two movements of the Saint Saëns' 'Carnival of the Animals'. The parts for piano parts 1 and 2 will be posted online for download. You are expected to learn both parts, 1 and 2, and arrived prepared at the Academy on the first day. Your teachers will assign you the solo part you will play with orchestra as well as your partner on the second part.
In addition to the above repertoire, participants are expected to bring at least two solos to study during the Academy. One may be music that you already know well, the second should be something new or relatively new that you are learning.
Pianists are encouraged to explore and prepare piano music by Middle Eastern Composers.
Additionally, are encouraged to prepare at least two of the Brahm's 51 exercises as part of our ongoing discussions on piano technique.
New students must schedule an audition or send audition files when applying.
