American Voices Violin AcademyAn intensive violin study program for students ages 04-08. Classes offered daily between 09:30-13:00 will include:
-Private Lessons / Masterclasses -Violin Performance Classes -Violin Duos and Chamber Music -Violin Ensemble -Recitals and Final Concert Sample Daily Schedule: 9:30-10:15 – Group Class, Suzuki Books 1 and 2 10:15-10:45 – Snack, Music Listening Games, Arts and Crafts 10:45-12:15 – Individual 10’ Solo Class 12:15-13:00 –Group Class with Piano, Music Activities, Daily Concerts Final Concert – July 26, 11:00-12:00 Fees:
-$500 Tuition Fee due upon acceptance. Deadline will be July 1, 2015. Each child under age 16 must be accompanied by one parent or guardian. Housing Options: Suggested Housing: Chulalongkorn University International House Ibis Hotel Sathorn Bangkok (participants will be responsible for their own transportation from the hotel to Chulalongkorn University) Transportation: Students/parents must provide their own transportation to Bangkok. Students and Parents should arrive on July 19 and depart on July 26 (late afternoon) or 27, 2015. Parents should plan on $10-15 USD for food per day |

Marc Thayer, violin, is a member of the Kingsbury Baroque Ensemble. He teaches violin at Washington University in St. Louis and at the Community Music School of Webster University. Previously Marc founded and conducted the Saint Louis University String Orchestra where he taught violin and viola. He began playing violin at the age of 2 in the Ithaca-New York Suzuki Program. Marc studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Anastasia Jempelis at the Eastman School of Music. He taught violin in Williamsport-Pennsylvania, Rochester-New York, and Miami Beach-Florida between 1986-2001. From 2006-10 he served as the Artistic Producer for the Whim Estate Historical Society Concerts in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, and he was on the faculty of the Guadalquivir Festival with the National Symphony Orchestra of Bolivia. Marc performed as a member of the New World Symphony in from 1995-1998 and taught violin at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Florida.
Marc is also the Deputy Director of the Association of American Voices, a Cultural Diplomacy NGO with whom he has taught and performed in Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Ghana, Togo, Thailand and Burma. Through AV he co-manages the American Music Abroad Program with the US Department of State. He also served as a Department of State Arts Envoy in Liberia in 2014. From 2002-2011 Marc worked as the Vice President for Education and Community Partnerships with the St. Louis Symphony and served as Director of Community Engagement with the New World Symphony from 1999-2001. Marc has performed with the Syracuse Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Florida Philharmonic, American Russian Young Artists Orchestra, the Opera Festival of Heidelberg, Germany, the Orquesta Superior of Cordoba, Spain, the Ancient Music Festival of St. Savin, France, the Festival d’Orange, and with the International Festival of Art in Aix-en-Provence, France. Marc received a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with William Preucil and Zvi Zeitlin. |
